A box and whiskers plot is a graphical tool of exploratory data analysis that allows the comparison of groups by constructing a graph around five measures for each group: (1) the median, (2) the maximum, (3) the minimum, (4) the first quartile or 25th percentile, and (5) the third quartile or 75th percentile.
This tool provides visibility of variation among items being evaluated and makes comparisons quickly and easily.
